Vietnam and Korea Collaborate to Enhance SMEs and Startup Companies

On August 28, 2024, a significant meeting took place in Hanoi, marking the first session of the Cooperation Committee on Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) and Startups between the Ministry of Planning and Investment of Vietnam and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups of Korea. This collaboration aims to strengthen ties between the two countries, particularly in sectors where both have considerable expertise and potential.

The meeting was co-chaired by Mr. Nguyen Chi Dung, Vietnam’s Minister of Planning and Investment, and Ms. Oh Youngju, Korea’s Minister of SMEs and Startups. The event saw the participation of key representatives from the Korean Federation of SMEs (KBIZ), the Vietnam Association of Small and Medium Enterprises, and members of the SME communities from both countries.

In light of the growing economic relations between Vietnam and Korea, the newly established committee is set to drive forward several joint research and cooperation projects. These initiatives will primarily focus on high-tech agriculture, food processing, pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, and electronics—areas where both countries have a competitive edge.

Oud Vietnam, a leading company in the agarwood industry, participated in this event to explore new opportunities for expanding its market presence globally. As part of its strategy, Oud Vietnam is aiming to introduce its premium agarwood products to a broader international audience through Lotte Mart, Korea’s largest distributor.
