December 17, 2023, Oud Vietnam, a leading producer of premium Agarwood products in Vietnam, took in celebrating International Arabic Language Day. The event, organized by the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in collaboration with the University of Languages and International Studies – Hanoi National University, witnessed the unveiling of the first-ever Arabic-Vietnamese dictionary.
At the celebration, there was the presence of Mr. Hamoud Naif S. Almutairi, Charge d’Affaires of the Saudi Arabian Embassy in Vietnam, and representatives from various domestic and international organizations. This showcased the importance of the Arabic language as a bridge connecting nations. The event featured the inauguration of the first Arabic-Vietnamese dictionary, a product of passion and dedication crafted by the Arabic Language and Culture Department faculty.
During the opening ceremony, Mr. Hamoud Al Mutairi stressed the Arabic language’s pivotal role in cultural convergence. He underlined its rich vocabulary, origin, and expressive methods. Besides, also emphasizing its function as a medium connecting civilizations and transmitting knowledge across eras. Arabic serves as a tool for cultural exchange, connecting nations and facilitating the transmission of scientific, intellectual, and literary knowledge throughout history.
President Do Tuan Minh commended the University’s dedication to developing Arabic language and culture. He acknowledged the institution’s dedicated efforts, time, and passion invested in compiling the Arabic-Vietnamese dictionary, a valuable resource for both teaching and those interested in the language.
