Strengthening cybersecurity and digital transformation for SMEs
The “Safe Digital Future for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Forum” was successfully held in Hanoi on April 15, 2026. The event brought together government agencies, international organizations, cybersecurity experts, and business communities to discuss practical solutions for safe digital transformation.
Organized by the Vietnam Women Entrepreneurs Council under the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), in collaboration with the National Cybersecurity Association (NCA) and The Asia Foundation, the forum aimed to support SMEs in building a secure and sustainable digital future.
Addressing urgent cybersecurity challenges
In the context of rapid digitalization, SMEs play a crucial role in the economy, accounting for approximately 98% of all businesses in Vietnam. However, they are also among the most vulnerable to cybersecurity risks due to limited resources and technical capacity.
The forum highlighted the growing importance of cybersecurity as a foundation for successful digital transformation. Discussions focused on:
- Enhancing cybersecurity awareness and capabilities
- Building secure digital ecosystems for SMEs
- Supporting women-led businesses in digital transformation
- Connecting enterprises with technology providers and policymakers
The event also aligns with Vietnam’s national digital transformation strategy for SMEs (2026–2030), which aims to support at least 500,000 businesses in adopting digital technologies and platforms.
A platform for collaboration and innovation
With the participation of 200–250 delegates, including representatives from ministries, international organizations, and business associations, the forum served as a valuable platform for dialogue and cooperation.
Through expert sharing sessions and networking opportunities, businesses were able to gain insights into emerging digital risks and explore solutions to enhance resilience in an increasingly complex digital environment.
